PEF at the Labour Party Conference fringe 26th September 2021

We were delighted to host an event at the Labour Party conference in Brighton this year on Sunday 26th September 2021 at

the Metropole Hotel, Buckingham Suite

The topic was “A Progressive Recovery”

The meeting was chaired by Patrick Allen who introduced PEF and our recently published book, The Return of the State

Speakers included

Rachel Reeves MP , Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer who gave a taster and preview of her main speech to Conference the following day

Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester spoke about levelling up for cities like Manchester , especially needed for investment in public transport

Sue Himmelweit, Women’s Budget Group and PEF Council, spoke about the provision and finance of care in the UK

Grace Blakely, Economist and author

Josh Ryan-Collins, UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose and PEF Council member

Johnna Montgomerie, Professor of International Political Economy, Kings College and PEF Council member

The meeting was extremely well attended…
