PEF at the The World Transformed, Brighton , 28th September 2021

PEF held an event at The World Transformed in Brighton, parallel to the Labour Party Conference. Speaking on “Winning the case for Transformative Left Economics” were John McDonnell MP, PEF Council members Carolina Alves and Guy Standing, Antonia Jennings from the Centre for Local Economic Strategies, and Matthew Brown, leader of Preston Council.

A wide-ranging discussion covered the role of mainstream economics in shaping and influencing policy to the benefit of elites and the global forces reshaping capitalism in the light of the pandemic. Matthew and Antonia focused on the critical importance of local and regional government in pushing through transformative economics, and John provided an overview of the
