Are we sleepwalking into the next crisis?

2018 marked the 150th anniversary of the TUC, and the 70th anniversary of the Trade Union Advisory Committee (TUAC) to the OECD.

As part of the celebration of these achievements, the TUC’s Economics and Social Affairs department organised an event “Lessons from the Great Financial Crisis” on 12th November, 2018. Several speakers, including PEF Council members Ann Pettifor and Professor Stephany Griffith-Jones, and the Rt. Hon Gordon Brown, were invited to address the gathering of trade unionists, thought leaders and economists.

Here is a written, elaborated version of Ann Pettifor’s presentation, with added comments that respond to, or reflect on, comments made by others at the event.
