Marc Fovargue-Davies was, for many years, senior partner in Summers Fovargue-Davies, a small, independent consultancy specialising in brand and marketing strategy development. The partnership is strongly research-based and has carried out projects in a variety of sectors both globally and nationally including consumer electronics, the automotive industry, fashion, travel and the public sector.

His current research examines the economic, political and cultural influences on the development of both economic structure and the governance frameworks that go with them. Rather than focus on any single discipline, he instead takes an integrated, more strategic view of the economic system, using this to inform work on current and future governance.  A second research theme looks at ways in which an economy might be rebalanced and redeveloped, following de-industrialisation and the loss of productive employment.
