PEF at Labour Conference 2022

Between 24-27th September PEF is heading to Liverpool to host events at both the Labour Party Conference fringe and The World Transformed festival.

As hot strike summer heats up and Don’t Pay UK’s mass non-payment campaign gathers pace, the momentum against our rigged economy is growing.

Now more than ever, progressives need a space to come together, develop strategies and continue to organise our way out of this crisis. In June PEF hosted Progressive Economics 2022, a one-day conference at the University of Greenwich which brought together leading thinkers to debate how we build a radically better economy.

Now we’re heading to Liverpool between 24 -27 September to continue doing just that!

On Sunday 25 September, PEF is hosting a fringe event on “How To End The Cost Of Living Crisis” at the ACC Liverpool.

The astonishing rise in prices is already causing misery, and most forecasters expect inflation to worsen. But mainstream “solutions” seem to involve either causing a recession, or cutting wages. Where are price rises coming from, and what are the real solutions to high inflation?

Speakers include PEF Chair Patrick Allen, Director James Meadway, Andy McDonald MP, Olivia Blake MP, Mick Lynch of the RMT and Antonia Jennings, Associate Director of the Centre for Local Economic Strategies.

PEF is also pleased to announce an official partnership with The World Transformed – a four-day festival of politics, art and music – being held in Liverpool 24-27th September, during Labour Party Conference.

TWT22 will take place on the eve of the energy price hike, gathering activists and experts to develop strategies of resistance to spiralling living costs.

The festival will be packed with panels and workshops on the critical issues we face.

What is driving inflation and how do we tackle it? What should our key economic demands be? How do we challenge right-wing economic myths? Why is now the time for a £15/hour minimum wage?

Join PEF and hundreds of speakers to take on these critical questions, including Owen Jones, Zarah Sultana MP, Asad Rehman, Ian Byrne MP, Jess Barnard, Ava Vidal and Friends and the Don’t Pay UK campaign, with many many more to be announced later in August.
